How often should you deep clean?
A room-by-room guide to what needs doing weekly, monthly and yearly.

A deep clean doesn't need to happen every week. Most homes do well with a regular clean to keep things in order, and a deeper one a few times a year. Here's a simple rhythm to work from.
Every week
- Kitchen counters, stovetop and sink.
- Bathrooms: toilet, sink, shower and mirrors.
- Floors vacuumed and mopped.
- Bedding changed.
Every month
- Inside the microwave and the fronts of appliances.
- Baseboards and door handles.
- Dusting high shelves, light fixtures and vents.
Every three to six months
- Inside the oven and fridge.
- Inside cabinets and drawers.
- Windows inside and out.
- Carpets and rugs deep cleaned, more often with pets.
Once a year
- Mattresses vacuumed and turned.
- Behind and under large furniture and appliances.
- Curtains and blinds washed or cleaned.
Homes with pets, young children or allergies usually need the monthly and quarterly jobs a little more often. A regular plan can work these in for you.
